Costume Finders is a place to find costume inspiration and plan outfits with friends. Here's what we collect and why. We don't sell your information, and we don't show ads.
What we collect
- Your account: your email, display name, and a securely scrambled password (or your Google ID if you sign in with Google).
- What you save and add: ideas you heart, your closet, pieces and photos you upload, and costumes and looks you submit.
- Groups, polls and friends: the name you use in a group, your ideas and votes, your polls, and your friends list.
- Shop link clicks: which link you tapped, so we know which links are useful. If you're signed in, the click is linked to your account.
- Basic technical info, like your IP address, used briefly to prevent abuse and keep the site secure.
Who sees what
- Costumes and looks you submit are shown publicly, with your display name, once they're approved.
- People in your groups see the name you entered there, your ideas and your votes.
- Your friends see your polls, and your closet only if you turn on closet sharing.
- Your email isn't shown to other users. If you haven't set a display name, we show the part of your email before the @, so set one if you'd rather not.
- Our team can see account activity to run and protect the site.
Cookies and your device
One cookie keeps you signed in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Some preferences are saved in your browser, and photos you add with "Use my photo" stay on your device. Signing in with Google uses Google's sign-in, which is covered by Google's privacy policy.
Shopping links
Some shopping links are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, Costume Finders earns from qualifying purchases.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to host the site, deliver it securely and keep backups. They only use your information to provide those services.
Deleting your data
Open your account (your icon, top right) and choose Delete my account. That removes your account and everything you've added. The name you typed in a group stays so other members' votes still make sense, but it's no longer linked to you. You can also email us.
Age
Costume Finders isn't for children under 13. Some ideas are for adults only; they stay hidden unless you turn on 18+ ideas, which confirms you're 18 or older.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. Questions or requests: [email protected].
